Making back ups of ps2-cd-rom games

Hello all, I am attempting to make a back up of Mortal Combat deadly alliance. I copied the cd to my hard drive. Burned it with nero onto a cd. I have a mod chip and use the swap magic disk's, When I do the swap and put in the backed up cd into the ps2 I get a black star field with a red border behind it. The stars are still moving and it says insert disk? I have made succesfull back ups of many games . What do you think is the problem?
