    JACKET_P instead of AUDIO_TS

I just ripped IDENTITY to my HD as an ISO. I've been trying to burn it to a DVD and have not been successful. Here is what I did:

    1. Ripped Identity to an ISO
    2. Used DVD Shrink to compress everything to fit on one DVD
    3. Created two folders (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS) and copied compressed files to VIDEO_TS
    4. Used ImgTools to create an IMG file
    5. Burned IMG to DVD using DVD Decrypter

The DVD did not work. I tried a couple of times. I then took a look at the original ISO file and noticed that it had a JACKET_P folder instead of an AUDIO_TS folder (it had the usual VIDEO_TS folder). The Jacket_p folder contains the folloing files:

    14/07/2003 11:04 PM <DIR> .
    14/07/2003 11:04 PM <DIR> ..
    14/07/2003 11:04 PM 28,672 J00___5L.MP2
    14/07/2003 11:04 PM 10,240 J00___5M.MP2
    14/07/2003 11:04 PM 6,144 J00___5S.MP2
    3 File(s) 45,056 bytes
    2 Dir(s) 0 bytes free

Do I need to burn this JACKET_P folder to the DVD instead of the AUDIO_TS?

Also, the ISO plays from my HD, however when I DVDSHRINK from the ISO and convert the shrunk files to an IMG the IMG file does not. Perhaps due to the absence of the JACKET_P folder?

Anyway, I want the ENTIRE DVD, not just the movie. Anyone have any ideas?

"Perhaps due to the absence of the JACKET_P folder?"

Nope. The "JACKET_P" folder is sometimes used to provide background images behind menus. The lack of this folder on a duplicate DVD will NOT render the DVD inoperable...

Well, I've tried several times to burn this DVD using an IMG and then Decrypter, but ImgTools changes the JACKET_P folder (actually I think it deletes it) and adds the AUDIO_TS folder (which is empty). Have had ZERO luck with Nero, I think it may have a compatibilty issue with my Burner (LG 4040B), so I think I am going to just RIP only the Movie from the ISO I have and settle with that. I'm still baffled why I can't burn this DVD though.

Why don't you try using DVD Shrink DIRECTLY to rip and compress the DVD to your hard drive - and then use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode?

Tried that. Nero 6 does not want to work for me. Anyway, I finally figured out a way to do this, preserving the JACKET_P, which in turn gives me a functianl DVD.

I used DVD Shrink to compress the DVD. Used BurnAtOnce to create an Image (it lets you specify the name of the folder(s) in the image, whereas ImgTool does not). Then used DVD Decrypter to burn to DVD. Worked perfect.

          Thanks for the help.

hi there i've got same problem but there is one thing i dont understand about the way to do things, could you help me?

                  this is what i do:
ripped the dvd (automatically only the VIDEO_TS folder), started burnatonce and put together a image contianing 2 folders; the JACKET_P and the VIDEO_TS. In the video_ts folder i've put the ripped movie files and 'm not sure what to put in the jacket_p folder, but to tie i've deployed the original files from the jacket_P folder on the original dvd.
                  is this correct?

If your "ripped" DVD package plays fine on a software player (WinDVD or PowerDVD), then all you really need to do is burn the VIDEO_TS folder–with all the DVD related files in it, and an "Empty" AUDIO_TS (both folders must be all CAPS).

Yes - provided that you create a "JACKET_P" (MUST be all capitals) folder and place the three files in it from the original's "JACKET_P" folder AFTER placing ALL of the .IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs into the "VIDEO_TS" folder...
