    Question about DVD-Burners in general...

    Hi there.
Im thinkin about buying a Multiformat DVD-Burner. How about the capacity? at the moment they are stuck with 4.7GB DVD-5 Discs. Can those drive also burn larger DVD's (if they ever will hit the market) ???

Or do i have to buy a new Recorder then?

    Thanks.

    Greetings outa Germany

    Welcome muellinger_hn,

The quick answer is no. Dual-layered discs (DVD-9) are "pressed" together when manufactured. "Glued" together if you will.
So, dual layered DVDR-9 discs will never be in shops for use

The closest we get the double-sided DVD-R discs (flip-disc)
    Basiclly two dvd-5 joined together.

      Ok Thanks.
I asked because some times around i heard that there will be dual-layered Discs in the future. Seems to be a fake.

      Thanks for your quick reply.

I guess the Blue Ray disc will be next in line, in the near future, which holds a lot more of data/video...
        Thanks,

        David.
