Can I rip and convert ntsc to pal

I want to backup my Region 1 films and convert them to Pal so I can view them on an old tv that can't handle Ntsc signals. Can this be done and how?
Anyones help would be much appreciated.

    Ripping from NTSC to PAL

    Hey Leofitz,

I have done this only a couple of times but it worked fine for me.

TMPGEnc did a fine job of converting a DVD for me. Just run the wizard and choose the PAL output format.

Of course you may have additional steps depending on the original form of your movie.

    If it is a DVD:
You have to decrypt and ripp the files of the original dvd (my choice is SmartRipper) if the films are on DVD.
TMPG is a bit tricky on VOBS directly (multiple audio, subs, etc) so I converted them to an avi first (also because I wanted a DiVX form of them as well).

Once TMPG has converted the movie to mpg format. Burn it to DVD using your burning software (imgTool is my choice, though you'll have to have Nero on your system for this)

That's what worked for me anyway.
