    Faint ring in burns

I have a problem when burning anything. All my burns have a faint ring about half way across the burning surface of of the dvdr. I have searched the forum and can't find anyone with this problem.

I have been using plain white top Ritek with success for ages now and all of a sudden my burns dont work anymore (the faint ring has been present for longer) so I tried some Datawrite Red Princo which seem to work (with the faint ring still present) but these are not to clever ie.,dirty disc errors, slower loading, etc. I come to the conclution that my pioneer 105 had seen better days so after reflashing firmware to no avail I went out and bought a pioneer 106. To my horror
I am getting all the same problems as before. This happens with both Nero and Recordnow max.

I did try the Ritec first in the new drive which didn't work at all and these may be a dodgy batch could these have damaged the drive. If anyone has heard of or experienced this before please reply as I havn't got a clue on this one. Thanx in advance.

Are you running a program that could be interupting the burn, because thats what it sounds like. Whenever you do, say a multisession on a CD, it will have lots of 'rings' as you put it round the disc surface. This is because of the start/stopping of the laser. Can you think of a program that is running - that you may have recently installed that is for some reason suddenly using all of the CPU and causing a stop in the burn process?

      Hi,

Just posted a new thread on a similar topic. Did you try to burn DVD-RW? My situation is that I cannot longer burn DVD-R media - everything else is just fine
