    2 cds a must?

Hello all....im new to the forum and very new to backing up dvds and im sorry if this has been asked before. I read that you had to make dual layer dvds into two dvdr's but i also read that you can compress the two into one using dvd2one. Im really confused and could really use a basic newbie guide or somthing lol. Anyway thanks to anyone that can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum!!

no it is not a must... compressing a dvd9 to a dvd5 dvdr
(dual to single layer will also reproduce good results....
this depends mostly on the dvd itself... dvdone is also good but

I would suggest the DVDshrink program ... you can get it at
www.dvdshrink.org it is free and you finde good support here
    in the DVDshrink subforum.....

    good luck!

Thank you shiny for the reply. I actually already have dvdshrink. I guess I just have to figure it out..lol. I used dvd decrypter to decrypt then dvdshrink to compress and dvd2one to burn it(?) it but dvd2one still said that it was too large. I guess I did something wrong but i suppose its just trial and error. unless someones willing to help a noob

any help would be great and appreciated, thanx in advance

      (Is Nero best for burning?)
