Compliance Test Failed Error

My mate has a PIONEER 106 and using Samsung DVD-Rom Drive
Running XP OS system. He is trying to make a backup of a DVD and it comes up with 'Compliance Test Failed' Error. How can you fix this and what does it mean? He is using Nero 5.5.10.28.

Has he attempted to write anyting without running through the test?

he simply is trying to burn without a test just a straight burn and this is what comes up

You say he is using a Samsung DVD ROM also. What is he doing, an on the fly copy? If so, is it an encrypted disc?

nah dont think so he is just trying to do a copy on the fly and also to the hard drive

So, it would be a DVD R he is attempting to copy, not a DVD Video disc. On the fly copying isnt really recommended since it uses quite a lot of resources.

yeah ive been doing them to the hard drive now firstly.
but i still have problems copying a backup. I have to use dvdshrink and then compile a dvd to burn out again. Dont know why seems to be something with the dvd rom drive
