How to copy protected DVD's?

I'm trying to copy some dvd's and just found out that they are protected...
Does any one know how can I over come this annoing problem?
Is there any special program that copys protected DVD's?

there are a couple of programes u can use dvdregion free & anydvd they will let u backup your protected discs from your dvdrom drive and work with most programes like copydvd instantdvd and shrink which i think is as good as any and its free
