    COMVERTING wmv files

Hello all. I am having a little problem that is driving me crazy and maybe someone out there has the answer. I tried to look through the forumn but really had no luck. Lets start out with this:

I have a Cannon Zr40 DV Video Camcorder. I downloaded the film onto my computer through Windows Movie Maker, seems like this is the only program that allows me to capture my video. (is there any other programs that I can capture my video through ym firewire?) Once saved it is a WMV file. I am trying to burn all my film off my camcorder to DVD so I can re-use the DV tapes. My problem is I use Nero 6 and I cannont burn anything that isn't a .IFO, .VOB, or .BUP, Why I do not know. Well I can't burn my video due to the WMV format.

I have used a few different converters like FX 6.0.4 to convert it to AVI, VCD, and Mpeg1. I tried all of the formtats, and no luck trying to burn them to a DVD-R.

All I want is to pull my video off my camcorder, then burn it directly to a DVD-R. Is there something out there that can make that possible and fast and easy all at the same time? If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Maybe there is another (better) burning program other than Nero 6 that I can burn wmv fies to dvd? I am Lost, please help????????

DVD video is MPEG-2. You're going to need DVD authoring software to create a video DVD. Most allow importing various formats, but wmv might be a tough one.

One option is to get a capture card that converts to MPEG-2 on the fly, then import those files into the authoring package. To ensure best quality use a dedicated DV capture card which usually save as lossless AVI files, then select your MPEG-2 quality from the various settings in the authoring program. Expect the AVI-to-MPEG-2 conversion and output to take much more time than you anticipated.
