Use DVD Shrink (freeware).

Until you're sure of what you're doing, I'd suggest you use rewritable DVDs (either DVD-R/W or DVD+R/W)...

I have used Shrink. I am currently trying to shrink Bourne Identity. The smallest i get is 6.xx gb.

But the Shrink is only for video is it not? I do not have any audio files. Am i supposed to do something prior to shrink.

Sorry, I am a beginner on this and it is driving me mad.

Have you run Shrink in Deep Analysis?
VideoDubMod might fill your need for media file conversions but you may need to locate additional codecs.

Check out http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/ for help with DVD backup - you can split onto two disks for higher quality.

is it not possible to put onto 1 disk? Do I have to use 2? All I want is the actual movie with audio. Nothing else. No subs, extras or menus for that matter.

I was only pointing out you CAN split to two - DVD Shrink can compress down to quite amazing extent. Use Reauthor and drag your main title to the new window to eliminate bits.

Have you run it in a software player to check on quality?
Once you have a collection of files in a folder that will fit a DVD, indeed use Nero, making sure your files will go into a VIDEO_TS folder along with a AUDIO_TS folder onto the disk, and make sure DVD compatibility is selected.
My Nero doesn't support my burner so I'm merely paraphrasing other's threads here.

What kind of media pllayer? Windows?
And which files goes into video_ts and which ones in audio_ts?

ALL DVD-related files (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs) must be placed in the VIDEO_TS folder (MUST be all capitals). No files are placed in the "AUDIO_TS" folder (MUST be all capitals) - it's just that some standalone DVD players won't play the DVD if the "AUDIO_TS folder isn't present on your burned DVD...

I thought that this would be an easy exercise, however I have been corrected.

Should (hopefully) this work I am and will be most grateful to all.

I almost got to the point of actually buying dvdxcopy. But after a disasterous trial of their software, I DONT THINK SO.

I have "tried" other versions of their software but no luck either. I did in fact talk to the company directly and asked questions about it.

THe tech on the otherside said that it was the best and easiest to use.

I then questioned him as to whether or not he had actually used this software and he said "NO". How can you have a lot of faith in some of these tech's when they dont even try the product? I think that all should know this important information.

I want ed to tell you that I have successfully "backed up" bourne Identity". Thanks for all your help.

I cant believe that after all this time it was that easy. I guess that I just needed to find the right place in order to make this happen.
