Plays on PC not on DVD Player??

I am a newbie, at this game, as you will soon tell. I downloaded Shrink and reauthored the DVD to the hard drive. I have IFO-VOB & BUP files. I then dragged all files into Shrink. Then burned, using B's recording program,as a Data file. This worked on my kids $45 DVD player but not on my or friends RCA or Sony players. I first used DVD+R then tried DVD-R, still no joy.
Can someone out there set me straight?? My DVD player does play DVD+ & DVD-, so it says.
    Many thanks.

Try using a burning program that provides SPECIFIC settings for burning DVD-Video - such as NERO in the "DVD-Video" mode.

Simply place ALL of the DVD-related files (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs) created by DVD Shrink into the RED "VIDEO_TS" folder, then burn...

      Thanks setarip.
I downloaded Nero and started from scratch. Put Young Frank into Shrink (reauthor). Opened Nero Express, (only place I found the Red "Video_TS" folder. So far so good? Copied the IFO's, BUP's, VOB's to the folder. Clicked burn and the process began normally 100% buffer until the burn sequence started. Burning process hung at 1% for 20+ minutes using DVD+R at 2.4x write speed. I aborted the project. This locked up my computer (re-boot time). Any advice of what I'm doing wrong or any past problems you have encountered that could help would be appreciated.
      Tks again

        Sounds like bad media...

So, you can just put all your IFO's, VOB's and BUP's into the red folder, put in a blank DVD, click burn and you have yourself a new DVD? all of that takes care of the audio and everything? Praying you say yes

Would you believe 2 bad DVD disks out of the package were NFG!
I finally got it to work the third time and I'm a happy camper now!
It burned in 25 minutes and works well.
                  Many thanks again

I wish you hadn't mentioned this. It's against forum rules to discuss copying commercial media that you don't own...

The information contained in this thread has nothing to do with making SVCDs. Rather, it is related to compressing/duplicating DVDs as DVDs...

Just a guess but it could be that those players are not capable of playing dvd +/-r media. I too tried my first ever backup on my xbox and it didn't recognize it so I bought a lite-on dvd player (same brand as my writer) and it played it. Not flawlessly mind you but still plays. I think I have to get better media now. Good luck!
