    Burning for a Toshiba SD100e

This player (TOSHIBA SD-100) is a bit of a sticker for burned DVDs.

What do I need to do to burn successful DVDs for this machine.

Have Nero 6 Burning ROM with an NEC ND 1100A burner. DVD+R works on the my PS2 but not in the Tosh.

    Any ideas? TIA

The TOSHIBA SD-100 will NOT play any DVD+R disks. It is only compatible with DVD-R.

So you either get a new DVD player like the TOSIBA SD220E, which I highly recommend or get a new burner such as the PIONEER 106.

You also have the option of flashing your firmware in your burner which will allow you to set the bitsetting of the DVD to DVDROM. This should then allow the disk to play in the TOSHIBA.

Here is the link where ou will find it:

This is the one you need:
    1.08 B

Thanks for the Info. I have successfully got a DVD+RW to burn and play in my SD-100e. At least I don't have to replace this player just yet!

Unfortunately my NEC ND-1100A does not allow me to burn DVD-R format so unless anyone knows of a firmware upgrade to allow DVD-R burns on this unit i'm a bit stuck with DVD-R at present.

      Rick.

How did you get your player to read DVD+R?
Did you use the firmware hack and bitsetting tool?

No luck with DVD+R only success with DVD+RW with the DVD-ROM book type set in Nero.

Don't use Nero to do it. It works better if you use the tool below.
Did you make sure you flashed the firmware first. It will give your burner new capabilities.

              Thanks,

Upgraded firmware and now got DVD-R capability. However can only burn DVD-R at 2x. I've got some old 1x speed DVD-R and these just make coasters running at 2x.

              Better [faster] media needed?

Been using DVDinfopro to do the DVD-ROM bit setting.
