    having problem burning to dvd

just got my new burner a pioneer. the only problem is that it is getting to the end - i think - of the burning process and then saying that there was an error.

i use DVDShrink to trnafer the files to my HDD, and then use NERO burning rom to burn the CD's, the only problem is that is not doing it.

the DVD's are TDK and are DVD + R.
    here is the error:

Try installing a freeware decrypter/burning program called Dvddecrypter v. 3.1.9.0, Start the program and check the log, also click on the Tools tab, then Settings, then I/O and choose one of the top three Layers (two DLL's and one Spti) which you can check. If you have XP O.S. you can check the SPTI setting and then see what the log says when you try to decrypt.

Also, you can Click the Tab and Click on Build SCSI/ATAPI map and verify the drive is correctly communicating.

Sometimes NERO will attempt a burn that will become a coaster part way through, whereas some other burning engines, will error out before such a burn starts.

Dvddecrypter, 'Shrinks various versions, and IMG Classic v.0.91.1 is a very good back-up system and is all freeware. You might need an aspi layer installed (Adaptec aspi and winzip.com's beta file extractor) free downloads and another free download called "force aspi".

Dvddecrypter besides being a very good decrypting/burning dvd freeware (also burns vcd's) is somewhat of a slueth as to your system settings and device maps and what is wrong with them.

You could use Dvddecrypter to re-build your SCSI/ATAPI map for better device communication.

Was the Disc rated @ 4X (I'm thinking it is, but you didn't specify)? I'm familiar with DVD-R's and not with +R's.

yup, did that. used Dvddecrypter, then used DVD Shrink, then used Nero to burn it to the DVD.

Still comming up with the same error.

Could not preform end of Disc-At-Once.

      What does this mean????

"Could not preform end of Disc-At-Once."

NERO frequently generates a FALSE "end of disc" error message. Have you tried PLAYING the "failed" DVD?

Burn the shrunken 'Shrink files with 'decrypter.

All you have to do is download the freeware IMG Classic v. 0.91.1 and Classic will turn the shrunken (compressed) 'Shrink files into an Iso (takes about 10 minutes) and then 'Decrypter will burn that Iso and you should have a compliant dvd movie to play.

this is an all freeware solution and you don't have to bother with NERO's failures. The only time 'Decrypter has not burned a disc correctly for me (I've burned 100's) is when there has been a physical problem with the disc being burned (an oily-type substance on the disc, missing dye, oval discolorations (which are not dvd rot, but appear as such to the un=aided eye)).

You can also set the MAX ripping speed and burning speed in v. 3.1.9.0 DVDDecrypter. If 'Shrink is slow to analyse, encode (and you have Nero installed), you can either un-install NERO (which many persons do) or download from Nero the Nero tools and set devices @ MAX read/write and keep this proggie running in background.

Nero Tools has the habit of defaulting to 2X or 1X (on read/write), so you should check the settings after each rre-starting of computer.

Doom9.org or .net for the link/lead, also you could try dvdrhelp.com and search there.

okay i am experiencing the same problem. i now have dvd decrypter. i used that program to decrypt then used those files NOT the disc to compress in dvd shrink. i went to burn using dvd shrink and still came up with the same error. i have now used five discs and none of the dvds work in a computer or dvd player in my house.

where can i download this IMG Classic freware? i cant find it anywhere.

any help would be greatly appreciated as i am near my breaking point and about ready to continue renting dvds the old fashion way.

                          Here it is: http://www.coujo.de/ib/index.php?act..._name=download

You want ImgTool Classic 0.91.1. This is where I got it and although much of the site is german my copy was english. It works GREAT!

                          Good luck.

                            FamousMortimer,

You will like this system. Be sure when you set the paths on interface that on Source Directory you only click on the title (not the VIDEO_TS). Now, on Destination click on title of folder you made (such as Movie Iso) and then click on VIDEO_TS and then click SAVE (on interface) and then click on the image button. After 2 or 3 back-ups, you will like the easy to use of this system.

When you get bolder, you can download the AutoshrinkIso 3.1 from mrbass.org and then it is kind of a "one-click "G.U.I. and even easier to use.

Also, if you have RW discs you want a fast partial erase to write again, download IMG Tools v. 1.1.1 as has setting for partial erase that is good results and fast.

These are all freewares and what many people eventually decide to use when commercial software fails us.

If you have a problem post and we try to help with the problem.
