    Problems burning

    Hi guys,
recently bought the Sony 530 internal DVD burner - installed it and ran DVD's no problem. For the first time I used DVD shrink and then attempted to burn copies. On 3 seperate occasions the burn completed 100% and then failed on the last 2 actions:

    8:28:40 PM #22 CDR -1066 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1620
    Invalid field in command

    8:28:40 PM #23 TRANSFER -24 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1620
Could not perform end of Disc-at-once

    8:28:40 PM #24 Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 235
    Burn process failed at 4x (5,520 KB/s)

    Existing drivers:
    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=5.3.5.10, size=23436 bytes, created 4/24/2003 6:48:40 PM
    File 'Drivers\ASPI32.SYS': Ver=4.57 (1008), size=23936 bytes, created 12/22/1997 6:02:46 PM
    File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=2.02.60a, size=17232 bytes, created 10/9/2003 12:27:20 PM (Prassi/Veritas driver for win 2K)

    Registry Keys:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)

I the latest and greatest firmaware was installed for the burner - Nero 6.0.0.9 was the interface.

    Any clues?

I found Nero 6 to be buggy as well and had to go back to ver. 5.5.9.0 to get reliable burns. FWIW
    Cheers!

So you think it could be Nero that is the problem and not the burner?
Where can I find an older version of Nero?

The freeware DVDShrink v. 3.1.7 Beta 5 automatically burns with the freeware DVDDecrypter v. 3.2.0.0, this is now a "one-click".. If you have NT, 2000, or XP, DVDDecrypter can use the O.S. SPTI to burn with and no "need" to install an aspi layer.

DVDDecrypter burns are usually highly compliant and many people (whom have various Nero versions) prefer to burn with 'decrypter.

But, if you want to burn with Nero you could use the freeware IMG Tools 1.1.1 (or 1.1.2), which is a GUI to automatically burn with Nero's burning rom (lots of people use this, as they claim, burns are better than using Nero interface), IMG 1.1.1 (NOT Classic v. 0.91.1) is at : Coujo.de, and it is freeware, as is dvdshrink/dvddecrypter.

You can also reduce burn speed to 2 X from 4 X .
