DVD-R skips on stand alone. NEWBIE here

I setup my burner <lite-on 411S> and DVD X copy gold a moth ago. The first couple of movies came out fine using the EXPRESS feature.

Recently i started getting really bad copies with skipping issues. I installed the new DVDShrink and NERO 6 and the same problems follows. REinstalled windows on a new HD and tried TDK media at 1X rather than the FUJI at 2X and still a problem. I'm letting DVDShrink burn it as well now

Tried 2 different movies. The video files created by DVDShrink playback fine in POWERDVD but disks skip.

I'm thinking it might be the burner and plan on getting it replaced just in case, and i know this is a common issue, since i am a NEWB some suggestings for future referance

    Before buying a different burner:

    1) Although your burner is fairly new, you might try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on it. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US

    2) You could possibly have some defective blank DVDs. I'd suggest you try a couple of Ritek burnable DVDs and see if your problem "disappears"...

      not too bad an idea.

I tried the 2 different types of disks. Seems like i had more success with the first 5 disks i ever used which were MEMOREX. But a dirty drive seems odd but worth a go. it might also be NERO. Might give DVD X COPY another shot. Just dont like the lack of options

Specifically, I'd still suggest you try a couple of Ritek burnable DVDs and see if your problem "disappears"...

Do a Transfer Rate test on a burned disc that plays fine and one that doesn't with Nero CD/DVD Speed and see how they look.

A good burn/match should look like this:

A bad burn (could be the result of media that does not match up well with your burner would look like this:

This disc may work in some players, but may give others some problems. The point is to find and use media that tests out like the first example.

            tried the DVD speed test

on the DVDs tha twork the green bar stays straight across on 2X and the yellow takes a steady dip downward. The DVDs that dont work are erractic as you showed. but the thing is I dont think its the media cuz i'z had good and bad for each brand recently but now its every burn with every brand skips
