I added a DVD-Rom drive to my system, attached via an IDE/PCI card. I can play music and DVDs from the drive fine, but if I try to run any .exe file (like for setup.exe) XP gives me an error. Any ideas?

Some PCI/IDE cards claim to support both ATA (Hard Disk) and ATAPI (Optical Drive) devices. Most, though, are designed to support Hard Drives only. Suggest you connect your Hard Drive(s) to the IDE card and the Optical Drive(s) to your mobo IDE channels. That's the usual configuration for these cards.
