    DVD Split Problem!!! HELP!

    Hi,

I have DVD9 disc. It is a pack of lots of short videos. So the menu structure and the VTS structure is very complex. It is not possible to split it with DVDFab... or others... because they are not able to find a suitable split point.

    But:

I have analyzed the DVD VTS by VTS and found a nice split point. But I am not able to alter the menu structure!

    Here is the structure:

    ---------------------------------------------------
    VIDEO_TS (Main DVD menu)
    ---------------------------------------------------
    VTS_01_0.VOB (Sub Menu For Section-1)
    VTS_01_1.VOB (Section-1 Videos)

(video continues at split point from VTS_01_1 to VTS_01_2)

    VTS_01_2.VOB (Section-1 Videos)
    ---------------------------------------------------
    VTS_02_0.VOB (Sub Menu For Section-2)
    VTS_02_1.VOB (Section-2 Videos)
    VTS_02_2.VOB (Section-2 Videos)
    ---------------------------------------------------
    VTS_03_0.VOB (Sub Menu For Section-3)
    VTS_03_1.VOB (Section-3 Videos)

(video continues at split point from VTS_03_1 to VTS_03_2)

    VTS_03_2.VOB (Section-3 Videos)
    ---------------------------------------------------
    VTS_04_0.VOB (Sub Menu For Section-4)
    VTS_04_1.VOB (Section-4 Videos)
    VTS_04_2.VOB (Section-4 Videos)
    ---------------------------------------------------
    VTS_05_0.VOB (Sub Menu For Section-5)
    VTS_05_1.VOB (Section-4 Videos)

(video continues at split point from VTS_05_1 to VTS_05_2)

    VTS_05_2.VOB (Section-4 Videos)
    ---------------------------------------------------
    VTS_06_1.VOB (Intro Splash)
    ---------------------------------------------------
    VTS_07_1.VOB (Credits)
    ---------------------------------------------------

So I just split the files to different folders and copy the common files to both directories.

    DISC-1:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP - common file
    VIDEO_TS.IFO - common file
    VIDEO_TS.VOB - common file
    VTS_01_0.BUP - Section-1
    VTS_01_0.IFO - Section-1
    VTS_01_0.VOB - Section-1
    VTS_01_1.VOB - Section-1
    VTS_01_2.VOB - Section-1
    VTS_02_0.BUP - Section-2
    VTS_02_0.IFO - Section-2
    VTS_02_0.VOB - Section-2
    VTS_02_1.VOB - Section-2
    VTS_02_2.VOB - Section-2
    VTS_06_0.BUP - common file
    VTS_06_0.IFO - common file
    VTS_06_1.VOB - common file
    VTS_07_0.BUP - common file
    VTS_07_0.IFO - common file
    VTS_07_1.VOB - common file

    DISC-2:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP - common file
    VIDEO_TS.IFO - common file
    VIDEO_TS.VOB - common file
    VTS_03_0.BUP - Section-3
    VTS_03_0.IFO - Section-3
    VTS_03_0.VOB - Section-3
    VTS_03_1.VOB - Section-3
    VTS_03_2.VOB - Section-3
    VTS_04_0.BUP - Section-4
    VTS_04_0.IFO - Section-4
    VTS_04_0.VOB - Section-4
    VTS_04_1.VOB - Section-4
    VTS_04_2.VOB - Section-4
    VTS_05_0.BUP - Section-5
    VTS_05_0.IFO - Section-5
    VTS_05_0.VOB - Section-5
    VTS_05_1.VOB - Section-5
    VTS_05_2.VOB - Section-5
    VTS_06_0.BUP - common file
    VTS_06_0.IFO - common file
    VTS_06_1.VOB - common file
    VTS_07_0.BUP - common file
    VTS_07_0.IFO - common file
    VTS_07_1.VOB - common file

Ok. At this level. Both of discs work in Power DVD. But Since the DVD-1 includes only [Section-1] and [Section-2]...when a button linked to section-3 is clicked... nothing happens. But there is another button that is "Play ALL Section-3"... when this is clicked... PowerDVD just stops.

Is there a way to prevent that "dead" button of being clicked?

I have analyzed the entre structure of the DVD inside IfoEdit... and analyzed all of the VTS with VOBRator. But the "code" displayed inside Ifo Edit is very complex. All those "Jump" commands. I am not able to understant which is for which button...

Any easy way to cut the connection of the buttons?

Will the splited DVDs work on a stand-alone DVD player when burned??

thanks alot. Sorry for the long post. But it is very complex.

    I really need help.

Any easy way to cut the connection of the buttons? I've never delved into it but you haven't mentioned MenuEdit?

Will the splited DVDs work on a stand-alone DVD player when burned?? Try RWs

Another method of doing this kind of thing I saw once was to make two similar disks but compress the second half of the vobs in the first disk to stills and similarly the first half of the vobs in the second disk?
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

thanks... the second idea is a great idea. but i will make a few researches before trying it. There should be a tool that is capable of editing the Menu flow inside the VTS files. IfoEdit does it... but it is a very complex tool. It will take me time to learn it.

And DVD shrink sometimes seems to create copies that a re not so stable.

      but thanks anyway...
