The most simplest way it to use either DVD Decrypter with Shrink or Shrink and Nero.

    Method one

Use Shrink 3.1.7.6 to backup the DVD to a ISO an then it will automatically burn with Decrypter. DVD Deccrypter can rip the DVD files to the hard disc if you want to play with Shrink before burning.

    Method Two

Use shrink again to backup or DVD Decrypter to rip files to the hard disc. Then burn with Nero using burn to writer option in the backup screen.

    Plenty of guides here.

DVD43 is only useful to make your drive appear region free. An example is it will enable Shrink to read a R1 disc in a R2 drive.

It should take about 15 minutes to rip files to the hard disc (with DVD Decrypter) and then up to 50 minutes for Shrink to make the backup (with deep analysis to make bext pic quality).

Burning should be around 25 minutes max (2x).

The spec of the computer will depend on how fast it goes.

You will not get acceptable results trying to get anything on CD.

Th easiest way out is to use Nero Recode (part of Nero software) and encode to Nero Digital (form of MP4).

However, it will only be readable on a computer unless you can find a player that reads this format of MP4.

Something doesn't sound right with your setup if it's taking more than a couple hours.

            -What Operating System?
            -Brand of burner
-Is it on IDE2 set as Master?
-Do you also have a DVDROM drive?
-Go into Device Manager and click on 'properities' for IDE and see if DMA is enabled for your burner.

                Intel celeron 700mhz

That could be part of the problem.

                  Oh oh.

I would still try to set the Burner as Master on your second IDE channel and the reader as slave. You have to check in Device Manager..... go to IDE and check properties and see if DMA is enabled... it's very important that it is. Defrag your drive and shut down as many running apps as you can, and try again. But as was noted a 700mhz (especially a Celeron) may not cut it.

You have DVD Shrink and Nero. Upgrade Nero the the lastest version as v6 is reported to be buggy-free upgrade. Please read the guides posted above and check the IDE chain and be sure your burner is set to DMA, as mentioned. Set Shrink up to work in the background and DO NOT USE the pc while Shrink is working. Shrink takes full use of the resources of your PC. Once your dvd is on your HD to the size needed you can use Nero to burn the dvd. This is of course simplified-use good quality blank discs that are recommended for your burner and desk top player. Use RW discs to start with until you get the hang of process and report back for further assistance as need. Your closer than you think.

These two programs do NOT coexist peacefully! I strongly suggest that you uninstall the Roxio software...

This could be a source of some problems. Can you momentarily disable GoBack while burning? It always seems to be doing something in the backround which may account for some of your problems.
