    4 1/2 hour movie

That's right folks. I got a dvd-9 that has a movie that's 4 1/2 hours long. It just does not make it w/ dvd shrink. ( by maybe 5mg )

So what it the max time length of a movie I can put on a dvd-4 anyway?

By the by, I have a nec 1100a burner. Will that one be firmware upgradedable to the new dvdr-9's?

    Thanks

The length of time doesn't directly affect whether or not shrink will be able to fit it into 4.37 GB - ie amount of motion etc.

What i would try to do is use shrink in re-author mode (to drop everything but the main movie), and let it shrink as much as possible.

Then, open the DVD that shrink outputs, and shrink it again. This should get you down to DVD-5.

As to the question of whether or not your drive will be upgradeable to be able to burn dual layer (DVD-9) discs, the answer would be no. The dual layer burners will no doubt rely on new hardware advances as well as software - so no DVD burners will be able to be upgraded in this way.

I have put five and a half hours on a disc. (6.5GB) in one shrinking session. It was Angels in America recorded of TV and minus the advert breaks, all 14 of them!!

It just depends on the size of the source.
