Can't help you convert, but I bought a cheep DVD player on Ebay that plays both PAL and NTSC.

There are a few low budget player's that will do this.

    Good Luck

There is NO simple way to accomplish this (Althoughthere are some roundabout/you're going to lose quality and menus/you'll spend a lot of time ways)

I found a fairly easy way to convert PAL to NTSC. It only works with the film and no subs and no 5.1 sound.

I use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD. I take of file splitting to create a big VOB file. DVD Lab can also combine VOB's into one file.

I then convert to a MPEG using MPEG2VCR. Then I use demultiplex to extract the video and audio.

I then put the audio through Besweet and convert to WAV or MPEG2 audio.

I then mutiplex the two together and put the results into TMPGENC DVD Source creator to make the video to NTSC. This creates a new MPEG file which can then go into TMPGENC DVD Author and burned.

I have done it with 5.1 sound but I don't know how I did it.

It took about 4 hours for a 2 hour film.

                To nwg

Although I am personally familiar with the procedures you've listed, I'd hardly refer to using 5 (or 6) pieces of software and demultiplexing and then remultiplexing "a fairly easy way to convert PAL to NTSC" - especially since you lose the original menu(s) and all extras.

                That's why I posted:

                  Ok.

Let's just say the old way I did it was a lot harder and took a lot longer, So, it is a easier way. AFAIK, there is no way to do menus.

I am hoping that some day DVD Rebuilder may do it. I am already impressed that I managed to convert a non anamorphic DVD to anamorphic (including extras and menus). I don't believe any other software can do this with just one setting set.

It took a few days to work it out. I just wish I can remember how I did 5.1 sound. I managed to do Bad Boys PAL to NTSC and kept the 5.1 sound. TMPGENC DVD Source Creator cannot work with Dolby Digital sound. I think the new TMPGENC DD plugin will but, I don't have that.

I think I may have just loaded the BTSC video into DVD Author and then the extracted AC3 file from the mpeg file. I think this would have created a lip sync problem though due to different speeds.

I cannot do NTSC to PAL doing the same way. Everything (video and audio) is at the wrong speed. I haven't done it yet.
