    Nero Burning from HD

I posted this over in the DVD Shrink forum, but I wanted to cover my bases.

OK. I have a strange problem. I'm relatively new to DVD Shrink and burning and ran into a new problem this evening. I have been using DVD Shrink with Nero 5.5.10.56 to create back up DVD's without a failure. Tonight I needed to make 2 copies of a movie. The first copy that burn directly from DVD Shrink/Nero worked fine. I then used Nero (DVD-Video) directly to burn another copy from the files (Video-TS) on the hard drive, and the disk was not readable by my set top DVD players. It was readable/playable by my computers, but not my DVD players.

What is DVD Shrink doing differently then I, when it burns through Nero. Is it finalizing the disk? It is setting a parameter differently. I created the DVD through Nero, exactly as the tutorial suggested. I even had it up and followed it step by step to be sure.

I am confused. When I use DVD Shrink/Nero from beginning to end it works flawlessly, but when I use Nero and the HD files it doesn't.

    Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Mo info needed.

Is it the same blank as before?

Did you use the same burn speed?

Ideally what you did or wanted to do should work fine (does for me).

If I get impatient, and try to burn at 4x (I usually use 2x) thats all it takes to create a problem disc like you mentioned.

      PS.

Another way of "double duplicating" is to use your now shrinked backup with Nero, and make a "data disc".

      This works for us also.

        Answers:

Not exactly the same blank, but the same brand. The second burn was a new blank disc.

Yes, the same speed. My version of Nero 5.5.10.56 can only burn up to 2.4X. My PC/burner is brand new and is capable of 8X, and the media is capable of 4X. Have used both Fuji and Imation media with the same results. Never had any problems with this media, other than this.

Yes, I would think it would work also. My suspicion is that DVD Shrink is setting a parameter differently, or that it is writting some sort of ISO header information that doen't happen when I do it manually. Something along those lines. There is something on the disc that does not allow my set top DVD players to play when I burn manually from Nero. Any ideas on what Shrink is doing that I am not... which setting I need to change?

I followed the interactive guide for Nero burns exactly, as a matter of fact I had it up when I did it and did each step one by one.

I've seen this before. To clarify, where does the folder name come from, did you type it in? It's imperative it's in upper-case with the underscore character (VIDEO_TS) and yes, I'm sure the finalise switch is on OR it's Disk At Once.
Try a ReWritable to save coasters.

Can't help with what Nero is doing or not doing (too tech for me).

But how about the second blank-you said it was different

When i've switched blanks there can be issues (+R's -R's for instance).
Same brand, but different spec's can cause prob's.

Same blank. Both Imation +R. My burner is +R/+RW only. By difference I mean I tried both Imation +R and Fuji+R, bith blank. Same result

To answer sfheath, Nero created the folders on the disk. This is done when you select DVD-Video as the type of project. I simply moved the contents of my DVD Shrink destination folder (VIDEO-TS) to the this folder on the DVD.

I clarify again; VIDEO_TS must be the name of the folder on your burned media.

Yes. Nero creates that folder when you select a DVD-Video project for your burn.
