DVD doesnt work on dvd player

Hi i am new on this forum.

I have used dvd shrink for a while now. But i had to install the computer again. And installed dvd shrink again. However its a newer version (3.1.7) In the past i had no problems burning the backups but now i have.

I use Nero, the DVDs are succesfully burned, but on the dvd players (i have 2) the DVD's don't work anymore. They keep saying loading. With the dvd player on the computer they work properly. I have always used the same DVDs and the same burner. but now the DVD's dont work anymore. what's the problem?

I also have the same problem.
If I do the full disc back up, it is fine (playable with all my DVD players)
But when I do the backup via "re-authoring", the disc sucessfully burn but just playable with the Chinese made player only. The other 2 players (Pioneer & Toshiba) just keeps loading & ejects the disc after a while.
    Any idea?

Have you tried slowing down your burn speed to 2X?

      I assume your're using a 4X burner as I am-I rarely use 4X to burn-almost guarantee's coster's for me.

It's slow to use 2X, but all my disc's come out perfect this way.

        Thanks kuneo,
I'll give x2 speed a try. Hope it will work!

could also be midia, maybe a not so good factory press... you should try another brand of midia.

I think he means "media", as in the actual dvdr.

              Yeah,
Change to NEC DVD-R & it works!
Used Princo before with x4 speed.
I just tried Princo again & reduced to x2 speed & it was also OK!
              Thanks guys!

                Thats what i'm talkin bout!!!

                Good news indeed.

Guess we'll have to buy 8x burner's to work at 4x

Yes but my burner is 2 speed. SO that cant be my problem. And i use princo DVD's, but they only dont work when i use DVD shrink. Already copied DVDs by others work correctly.

Sorry it didn't work for you too Dan.

A lot of people don't use Princo, and thats why.

I know it worked for you earlier on Princo, but if you can slow your burn to 1x (?) and try another media-is all I can think of.

For some reason using burner's at their rated output (2x4x8x) doesn't work for many of us-so we must use the next slower burn speed.
It may have to do with the comperssion Shrink uses, but i'm guessing.

                    Good Luck

                      I still have around 40+ Princo's (grad A)
                      My dirver is Pioneer x8.
I just burned 2 more (Shrink authoring mode) using Princo's with x2 speed and they are fine.
                      My system is win 2K.
Maybe Dan need to reduce to x1 speed. But that's kind a too slow ...

PS: I use Shrink to decode only & open Nero to burn. I think it more safe & quicker than let Shrink call Nero automatically after decoding.

Daniel B - You could have Shrink output to ISO format and have DVDDecryptor burn the ISO and that way you could use up the remainder of your princo disc, then upgrade to a more suitable disc.

                          Princo's DVD-R sucks!
Pity I still have a lot of them.
I think the edge finish of Princo's DVD is the problem. It is not flat & smooth. Touch them & you feel they are still very sharp (not like other media).
I have 1 disc denied by Nero last night!!! I guess there are more to come!
                          Never buy them again!!!!

General consensus about Princo is not good.

I've got some sharp edged -R's I bought from Shop4Tech that work fine though-They are sold under the "Matrix" label, but a DVDinfopro scan sez they are actually Longten's.

They've worked perfectly for me and my burner, and they're cheep too.

If your backup DVD won't play in your DVD player are our sure it is finalised? Make sure that 'multisession' in the first window of Nero is not ticked. I think you can check if the disc is 'open' by putting your disc in your DVD burner and selecting 'disc information' in Nero. If it is not finalised it should ask you if you want to finalise, at least that's what I've been told. Try it and see.
