    dvdr discs

If I get a 8x dvd burner to backup my discs, is it safer to burn at a lower speed---getting 4x discs rather than 8x discs? Why so?

    Thanks Terry

The 8X capability of the burner is the simply the MAXIMUM burn speed capability of the burner

You can ALWAYS safely burn at a lower speed, as well as burn lower speed rated burnable DVDs...

I thinks the reason is....DVD Shrink compresses the data usually, and burning compressed data is more difficult than uncompressed data... therefore a slower burn speed for compressed data provides better burn's...

Sound logical???? or just out there....
