    Automatic Compression

    Question:

Is the "Automatic" Compression option sort of like variable bit rate with mp3 ripping. That is, different compression rates are applied based on the movement on the screen? Or is automatic just a constant compression rate throughout the entire move.

For example, if "automatic" is selected, an action sequence would have an increaced bit rate while a less active scene would contain less of a frame rate.

so does the automatic option apply various compression rates or one constant one.

Since you haven't indicated what software you're asking about, I can only guess you mean DVD Shrink.

If so, post your question in the DVD Shrink-specific sub-forum(s) here...

I'll reply with some help for you.

If you are indeed talking about DVDShrink then the answer to your question is no. It just automatically calculates the amount of compression to use in order to fill the disc to capacity. If you choose this method then also select Deep Scanning. This will improve the video quality.
