how to burn mpg movie with dvd shrink?

    Hi,
im just new to all this, but have managed to backup a few of my existing dvd's with dvd shrink. All have worked and played on my dvd player. however, i have a movie on my hard drive in .mpg format, i wanted to put this to disc but when i try to use dvd shrink it tells me it cant locate a 'video_ts ifo' file. Do i have to convert my mpg file so that i can put it to disc. or is there another way i can do this. i also have dvd decypter. any of these help.
    Thanks for everything!

"Do i have to convert my mpg file so that i can put it to disc."

Yes - Use a DVD Authoring program such as "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (Different than "TMPGEnd" and "TMPGEncPlus") or DVDLab...

hi again.. i got that program you suggested but unfortunately im still having problems. It converted my mpg to an .iso but dvd shrink still wont copy it.
I then tried using dvd decrypter, which it copied it, but then wouldnt play on my dvd player.
      Do you know why?
      any suggestions?

"It converted my mpg to an .iso but dvd shrink still wont copy it."

Did you use "TMPGEnc DVD Author's" DVD writing tool to create the ISO image? DVD Author must first create a DVD-related file structure (.IFO, .BUP, .VOB) out of your mpeg file before it can write an ISO image.

"I then tried using dvd decrypter, which it copied it, but then wouldnt play on my dvd player."

This very well could be a media compatibility problem.

When you open the program, simply "Create New Project" > "Add File" > "Create Menu" > "Output".

ok, i did try that but soon as i select my .mpg file and error message comes up and says is

"GOP is too long"For a standard DVD it is necessary that the GOP fulfill the following condition:

Max 36 fields (18 frames) (NTSC format only)
Max 30 fields (15 frames) (PAL format only)

              or another error message....

This is an illegal video file.
For DVD-Video you can only use the following video formats:

              MPEG-1 Video, MPEG-2 Video

i just get error messages every step of the way, even the last step 'create menu' i get this long error messge that says
"The video resolution of 480x576 cannot be used for a standard DVD. Use one of the standard DVD resolutions

and thats where i cant change that either

""GOP is too long"For a standard DVD"

You should be able to ignore this message and proceed.

"or another error message....This is an illegal video file."

Then the file is NOT DVD-compliant. Use "TMPGEnc" (different than TMPGEnc DVD Author) to encode the file(s) so that DVD Author will accept them.

SOUNDS ALL GREAT BUT WHAT THESE GUYS DONT TELL U ON THIS BOARD IS TO RE ENCODE A FILE USING (TMPEG ENC) LIKE 700 MB WILL TAKE THE LENGHT OF THE MOVIE OR MAYBE EVEN LONGER.
SO YOUR TALKING HOURS TO RE ENCODE A FILE.
NOT TO MENTION MOST MOVIES COME IN TWO PARTS SO U FIGURE IT OUT.

THAT SUCKS. IM DEALING WITH THIS SAME ISSUE BROTHA.

Your file is a PAL format SVCD. Therefore, use DVDLab instead of TMPGEnc DVD Author - as DVDLab WILL accept SVCDs DIRECTLY as input for conversion to DVD...
