    Ripped dvds won't work. HELP!!

Just bought my first DVD burner. Thought I successfully burned a movie but when I tried to play the movie on my computer dvd player it won't play unless I open the files and drag them to the open media player I'm using. Maybe there is a communication problem between the dvd player and the media player??? Or is a file possibly missing on the ripped dvd that lets the media player read from the dvd drive?? ALSO, my regular dvd player doesn't play the ripped dvd's. States "invalid title" then "no disc"

    1) Is it a commercial DVD that you copied? If so,

    2) What software did you use to decrypt (remove copy protection) and copy to your hard drive?

    3) What software and procedures did you use to burn the DVD?

This dvd burning thing is all new to me. I was trying to burn shrek so I used dvd shrink to save it on my hard drive. As for decrypting, I'm not sure how that works. Does dvd shrink automatically decrypt it or do I have to do something else to decrypt it? To burn the dvd from my hard drive I used RecordNow software that came with my computer. One of the options was to "create an exact copy of a disc in your collection" and another was "create a disc from an image already on your hard drive." I chose the 2nd option. Hopefully this bit of info might shed some light on it for you. Also, I tried to play the dvd on another dvd player and it does show the title of the disk however It won't play it either. Thanks for the help.

"Does dvd shrink automatically decrypt it or do I have to do something else to decrypt it?"

Yes. You shouldn’t need another program-unless for some reason you are not successful using Shrink. There are alternative programs to remove copy protection(s) such as "DVD Decrypter" or "SmartRipper", but in most cases, DVD Shrink should suffice.

"I used RecordNow software that came with my computer"

Are you burning the project as a "Data" disk? You will have to manually create a VIDEO_TS folder that should contain "ALL" the DVD-related files, and also an "Empty" AUDIO_TS folder.

Should I burn the project as a data disk? I was choosing the "burn image" option which stated "create a disc from an image already on your hard drive." When I used dvd shrink, it created the VIDEO_TS FOLDER and an empty AUDIO-TS FOLDER automatically, however when I clicked browse to pick the folders to burn and then clicked "add" to record now, it would not add it so I had to right click the folders and "send to" record now. I downloaded DVD Decrypter and tried it however the ripped disc still will not work, unless I opened the disk and manually dragged the folders to the dvd playing software. I'm at a loss.

That means you did NOT save the project as an "ISO Image" (single file) in DVD Shrink. In "RecordNow", click on the "Data" icon at the top, and another dialog will come up in which you click an icon called "Add Files and Folders". Then just navigate to where you saved the "Shrink" project on your HD and "Add" the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders then click the "Red" record button to burn to disk.

take a example on one i own as a test platform to figure out how to do it.

Its not to simple for some reason the same error keeps coming up

enter password this error comes up all the time in a standard dvd player its PG13 my standard dvd player access level is 8
but it keeps coming up I have to open player reload dvd press menu a bunch of times till it pops up then it will play ok.
their is somekind problem that keeps comming up not sure why.
Any answers on why this keeps happening.
