    AVI to DVD headaches!

    i am trying to encode all my avi movies to dvd.

    -ive encoded all my AVI to VOB and stuff with WINAVI
    -im using the newest Nero with NeroVision Express to burn the DVD

    ive checked all the encoded files on my hard drive and they all run fine. after making the menus and burning the cd, i pop the dvd into my player and the sound is all off.

    the menu sound is fine, but the synchonization of the sound is all off in the movies. i have no idea what is going wrong. can someone help a new guy out?

    any help would be appreciated. thanks!

    If you're willing to try different (probably better) software:

    One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:

    1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

    2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)

    **If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress

    If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
    (As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")

    Let us know of your success ;>}

          Audio Sync Troubles

          I looked on these forums for a similar solution. My AVI file runs fine with Zoom Player, then I used DVD Architect to set up Chapters and Prepare to VOB files. Then Nero to Burn. The DVD wound up with the audio off.

          After reading this thread I made a new set of VOB by bringing the AVI into TMPGEnc and spitting out separate WAV and M2V files, then into TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the VOB.

          Problem: I can't test the sync issue within TMPGEnc because it doesn't have a player. I could make the adjustment to audio there if I new + or - what it needed to be. But since the original AVI is fine, and the VOB files play back ok in PowerDVD, does that mean it's time to burn to DVD and everything is fine? Because when I played the VOB files in PowerDVD that were used to make the first DVD, they were staggered and off on the audio. Is the VOB file the final testing ground? I hate wasting discs.

          thanks!
