    mmm.

Do you have nero infotool at hand. If so please run it and save the results to file and post them, so I can have a look at the info.

I may be able to provide more information and help but only if I have a look at this info.

I cant promise, but I will try.

I was looking for any info regarding your drive, I looked here:

The thing that throws me is the lack of Model number

Have you checked if the drive is properly installed and speacially the jumper settings are correct.

Usually if the jumper settings are wrong it may show wrong info about the drive, your friend may have used it as a Master/Slave so you would have to change this acordingly to match your config.

Then the other thing is that if all of this is correct, I looked at the firmware version 1.50
Ridata drives are based on the NUtech drives so their firmware start with a B.

Want to check and report back?

You can always check here too:

This is the only info on any Ridata DVD drives I read so far:

I tried that program too it seems that this search for firmware (that doesnt) is a bug I have reported it just now.

As well as other bugs I came across.

I'll come back with more info ASAP.

That drive of yours I would like to plug it in and have a go myself.

How long have you had it?

                Hi again.

if you use that diskinfo tool I suggested last and do a summary of the drive I can have a look at as well.

post back and I will take it from ther.

I have inlisted some help from others that have a better knowledge of firmware than I, to resolve this.

At this stage I could say that this is maybe an early Ricoh but will soon find this out.

                hopefuly.

                Send that drive summary ASAP.

ok I haven't use the firmware at all. What I'm having problems is that it will not read dvd+r or dvd+rw but it will read regular dvds, cds, cdr, cdrw.

                      what can be wrong
