Burning With Nero Probs On A Sony

hi all, wondered if you can translate whats going on with these nero logs? has burnt over a 100 backups no problem, then lately it is chucking them out with roughly a 1 in 5 success rate. Doesn't matter what media, can't get a firmware upgrade to flash, just says it does it it, but doesn't update the version.

Enable your DMA on your Sony, http://www.mrbass.org/dvdnewbie/#2

and do the latest Nero 6 update: http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php

          Hi there paul3vanz

As Mig$y says enable your DMA first thing but if that doesnt work look at these:

This could be a driver conflict have you Primo prazzi installed or had? unistall the whole lot clean the registry.

Make a note of your serial B4 you do though.

Windows service pack 2 conflicts have only been "resolved" on the 6.3.1.20

You mention that U have burned over 100 backups.

calculating 100 backups over a tipical burning time this amounts to something in excess of 2000 hours.

Have you tried cleaning the laser lately?

I dont think this to be a firmware issue.

Since you may have experienced SCSI errors and the causes for this I mentioned some.

Loose cables may cause this too.

          Peace

upgrading nero seems to have worked so far, but ive only done about another 5 since.

will try cleaning the lense, also nero was only on 6.3.0.0, whoops!

thanks for all your help folks.

              Your welcome

              Happy things are working.

Just out of curiosity, your drive is DMA still turned off?

well it is turned on in windows but that doesn't do anything, it says "use dma if available" but says it is using PIO mode, it does seem to extract a bit slow compared to my machine (this one is my dads).

I would turn it on. The transfer rate is much better.

To enable DMA go to system properties>>Hardware tab>>Device manager>>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers>>secondary channel and chose from the drop down menu Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra 33.

If Le bios decide box is checked uncheck it and then perform the choice.

It would be worth flashing your bios too. And also making sure that the settings are set to provide the best support for your hardware.

With a little more info on your motherboard I could try pointing you in the right direction.

                  A little extra from me
