Problem writing to DVD & CDs - NEC 2500a

C00D11AB: Cannot burn files to CD
Windows Media Player cannot burn (copy) the selected files to the CD. To fix the problem, do one or more of the following:

Clean the disc and verify that it is not damaged.
Select a slower recording (write) speed for the CD burner (recorder).
Try a different brand of blank discs.
    Quit other programs.
To select a slower recording speed
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Devices tab.
In Devices, double-click the name of the CD burner (recorder), and then click the Recording tab.
In the write-speed list, select a slower speed.
    Error ID = 0xC00D11AB, Condition ID = 0x00000000

I've tried all the options above.

I've tried uninstalling the Nec 2500a. I've upgraded to version 1.07 of the firmware.

I've upgraded to WMP Ver 10.

Recently I installed XP Service Pack 2.. has anyone else had a problem following install of SP2

    Help??

Installed Nero v6 and all workin perfectly..

My ignorance led me to believe that windows XP had the capability to burn CDs & DVDs. Windows media player for example has buttons to select CD Burn.. but it doesn't work!!!

CanI call thenero capabiltyfrom windows media player, as it would be a great benefit to be able to burn my playlists direct to CD. Currently I am wasting a lot of time constructing playlists in Nero from scratch..

Is there any decent documentation I can read to educate myself..

        Hi there buddy

XP can indeed burn CD's but not DVD's (Not yet) With the introduction of Longhorn It may be that this comes as a standard feature.

As for windows media player I found that version 9 worked fine as long as you got the nero DVD burning plugins installed, get this here as a freeware download:

Find help and how-to articles for Windows operating systems. Get support for Windows and learn about installation, updates, privacy, security and more.

I'm pretty sure this is already included in Nero 6 but if you had 5.5 version of Nerro than a full unistallation and reg clean is recommended B4 the installation of Nero 6.

WMP10 however as decided not to recognize my burner at all.
        I'm working on that.

        Good things
