    DVD Burner master/slave

Just wondering, does it make a difference in trying to burn if a DVD-RW is set to cable select instead of master or slave?

I had a Micro-Advantage that would burn data files, but would not burn movies. I bought a I/O Magic and it works fine. Besides the burner the only other thing I changed is instead of setting the I/O to cable select I set it to master. Would like someone else input.

    Hello

I dont think this is a problem since the only difference is that the Master/Slave is being decided by where the drives are plugged on the cable.

I have my hard drives and DVD burner/DVD drive on cable select and it all is fine...

Mind DMA transfer on all drives and not PIO

Thanks, I am going to play with the Micro some more and see if I can get it to work.

I like to try and keep my burner in a master position just because some subconscious part of my brain thinks this will make a difference. However, I have seen no evidence to this effect... I just do it

Not sure I will re-install it this evening and check it out again. I took it out when I put in the I/O Magic burner.

Well I tried it again last night no progress. I forgot to check the sys properties. I am taking it back to Office Max. Because it burns data fine but I can not backup a movie.

                Hi

I would get anything (within reason) in exchange but a DL drive.

Hold on for a while longer B4 taking that plunge.

Self control will pay back in that area, trust me!

Let us know what you get and how you get on

                Good things

Well I took it back to OM. I had already bought a I/O Magic works great. They took it back no problems even with being past their 30 day return and having no UPC.

If I could have found media for DL I might have done it. But the best I found was 5 disk for $25, No thanks.
