I was looking for informatiom about service pack to thought this might help you. From what I read if DEP considers that a program cause damage it will not run it. The link explains more and about adding a program.

        Hope this will help.

          Hi,

I'm new to this, but have also encountered the same problem after installing SP2. In fact...DVD idle won't even work now, so my DVD drive is not multi region!

Whats the best way of uninstalling SP2?
Should I remove it through the Add/Remove Program section of the Control Panel?

I uninstall like that and it works fine, however, your dvd drive might still be mess up. Mine still does.

Installed a program called WinDVD4 - the disc burned ok but when i should try to open up the disc in my Nec1300A there was nothing there - and the DVD was called a CD. Somehow this program adds a tray in the task manager and tricks the DVD to act as an CD. Never looked deeper in it - just uninstalled and now i can see the burned DVDs files.
