Perhaps you should try burning at 2x instead.

Go into the settings of DVDDecrypter and change the I/O Interface to ASPI (or anything other than SPTI). That should make it work in 2k and XP.

You also need to install ASPI if you go for a try with it.

        update for cynthia

Sorry i missed your replies as was uninstalled nero and re-installed from download [slow] but is same version. I then tried the nero burn at 2x but still failed. Log still showed using interface 6.0.0.0.
What is connection with Decrypter if that process seems ok?
I see where to change I/O from SPTI. What is 2k and xp?
Isee that ASPI site refers to "from nero" so how is that connected to Decrypter?
        Appreciatively.

That interface thing 6.0.0.0 is above my head - I can't understand it. Thougt a clean install directly from Nero should have fixed that issue.

The problem you are having is that you are using USB for burning. Your burner is connected thru that device. Something with the drivers are causing the burning error.

The thread in DVDDecrypter forum is trying to investigate what it depends on. There is no explanation yet. Only a suggestion that you should try to switch the setting. "Go into the settings of DVDDecrypter and change the I/O Interface to ASPI (or anything other than SPTI). That should make it work in 2k and XP." Thats what I found in that thread.

Perhaps you could join that thread - there seems be one fellow in there that is very devoted to the problem.

          2k = Windows 2000
xp = Windows XP = The operating system you are using on your PC

You could also download the ASPI drivers from Adaptec - there is a link in the above mentioned ASPI page.

Some people have connected their burner to an IDE channel and solved the problem with that solution.

Think you also should buy a RW disc so you don't waste any more discs until you have found the solution to your problem.

            additional followup

-Success with the 1st/2 of “Episodes with the Shrink to .ISO to Decrypter Burn process, with 1 semaphone "Retry."
-My attempt to Burn the 2nd/2 of the "Episodes" with 3 semaphone retries ended in failure with repeated semaphone errors during the "Verify". Toss that one.
-so 2 out of the 3 original maxell dvd-Rs I was able to re-use in my successful attempts, so I only lost 1.
-But another attempt to Burn the 2nd/2 of "Episodes" using above process with a new maxell disk resulted in endless "Buffering", tried to "Cancel", couldn't eject disk so total failure. Even unable to do normal computer Re-start. No time after re-start to try again right now.
-Tomorrow will try again, will check/download ASPI, and get some -RWs.
-Workaround process of Shrink to .ISO to Decrypter seems to work without having to use nero. ??? except for semaphone I/O errors.
-Even further over my head as all different process worked for 8 or so prior burns [<5, >5] before tried "Episodes", or maybe just coincidence.
-Thanks for continued research, info and assistance.

              ASPI question and new failure

per your suggestion I went to http://www.nu2.nu/aspi/, downloaded from nero for xp. got a Caution- something about application, Open With, and Windows cannot open winaspi32[1].dll, needs to know what program etc. I don't know what to do.
              Not familiar. please advise.
Also when I re-did Shrink "Episodes" 2/2 with "Still" for size and tried to Burn with Decrypter as successful before, I got the semaphone time out expired error, and then this I/O error:

                Install this ASPI - found under "solution 3" in this page;

For years people have had various problems with the so called ASPI layer, which is required by many Windows CD-R software’s. This article aims to successfully install a good and working ASPI setup.

Change your setting in DVDDecrypter as suggested before.

"Go into the settings of DVDDecrypter and change the I/O Interface to ASPI (or anything other than SPTI). That should make it work in 2k and XP."

In the latest burning you are using SPTI :

                "I 10:23:31 Initialising SPTI..."

And please - buy some RW discs - I feel sorry for you every time your burning results in a coaster. You only need one so get a Ritek, Verbatim, Fuji or similar brand.

Have you checked if there is any BIOS update for your motherboard - that could be of interest?

                        Adaptec site info

                        Is this helpful?:

When I followed directions to Run ASPICHK.EXE, it couldn’t be found - but it’s in c:\adaptec and when I Open it I got:
“This utility has checked your current ASPI installation versiion info and operational status as listed:
ASPI32.SYS version 4.71.2 and byte size
                        WOWPOST.EXE version not installed
                        WINASPI.DLL version not installed
WNASPI32.DLL version 4.71.2 and byte size”

I have the following also: wow post.exe and winaspi32.dll in same folder with more stuff.

or any other stuff on their site helpful?

                          Try this:

According to the text you should do this:

"Some people report better success by running killASPI before running instASPI when newer ASPI drivers (such as v4.71.2) have been installed."

Run the bat file KILLASPI.BAT first - then restart your PC.
Then run the bat file INSTASPI.BAT. Restart your PC. You should then have ASPI 4.6 installed on your system.

To run a bat file you double clic on the unzipped bat file.

You can also run it thru this: In the start menu there is a option/choice "run" wite CMD on this line and you will be in DOS mode. In that mode you can switch to the folder/directory where you unzipped files are and run the bat files - just write the name "Killaspi" and hit Return.

Yes, the link is about your problem.
