error after 100% / posted log

For reference, I used DVD shrink 3.2, and used the re-author feature to burn the movie title only. I also went into the frames in the re-author field, and cut out the ending credits to help use as little compression as possible.

I am using Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. MCC 02RG20 4x DVD-R disk

I did try to play the movie in my Sony PS2 to see if it would still work, in which it took like 3-4 mins to load. Once loaded, it seemed to play fine (just flipped thru the chapters). Knowing that most failures happen at the end, I flipped to the last chapter in which it started acting up, then got the error message "cannot read disk" and it shut off and went to the PS2's master menu.

Any ideas?

Is it an external burner? (USB)

1) Does it play properly on a standalone DVD player?

2) Try a different brand of media, such as Ritek

Not sure if it will work on a standalone DVD player since I only have the PS2

I can try the Ritek, but hopefully thats not the case since I just purchased 100 of these disk, in which they are supposably some of the best

Any other suggestions?

Could be that thee don't like to be burned at 2x.

What feature on that program should I be using to figure out what my burn problems are? Seems every test I try, it says my DVD dicc is blank, but I have the entire movie burned on it

Should I try to burn faster or slower than the 2x?

Look on the underside of the disc, does it appear to have been written too? DVD Decrypter will also provide you with info' on your DVD.

Put in a blanc disc in your burner. Start the program. Then hit the Media-icon in the upper corn of the program.

It has the movie burned on it since its the same disc that I posted the error log on above. I can put the disc in my PS2 and it will play with no problems all the way to the last chapter...

Strange how it is being picked up as a blank.....

I had an experience with Nero 6 and a Toshiba SDR-6112, Nero claimed to have successfully burned but nothing was written on the disk, writer had died. I was just eliminating this from the equation.

The kids have a PS2 they watch there backups on, take a look here for media compatability: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers....arch&#comments

You could also reduce your output size by 100/200 mb to see if that helps.

It may have just been one bad disc.

What do you mean by "reduce your output size by 100/200 mb"? Sorry, i'm a newb to the whole burning ordeal.

I am gonna try and burn the disc again. I will try and burn just the movie title using dvd shrink 3.2 to the HD. From the HD, I will then try to burn to the disc, once again using dvd shrink 3.2.

I'll post my results in about 30min

Could be that your 8x Verbatim disc is not covered by the firmware. Have you tried to burn any of these discs at 4x?
