DVD-discs

What discs of the following types would you recommend? They are from a shop in Finland where I live:

1. Ritek DVD+R 4,7GB 1-4xspeed white printable
2. Datamart DVD+R white printable 4,7GB 120min 4x speed

And what does "printable" means? Does it means that you could write with a pen on a disc? Maybe I´m stupid but I´m a sadly newbie.

Printable discs can be printed on using a CD/DVD printer. It works just like printing on paper but on a disc.

But what format is the best?
DVD+R (as I plan to use) or DVD-R? Maybe there is no answer but could somebody tell me what the negative and positive parts of the different formats are?

One format isn't really better than the other.

You just need to be select the best format/discs for use with your equipment.

So, is discs from Ritek good generally or just when you compare them with Datamart? What about Verbatim? Is that a good disc? And someone told me earlier that DVD-R is less sensitive than DVD+R. Is that true? Many questions...
