    confused..some quick questions.

    Hi all,

I am getting a tad confused on what to do here. Can someone tell me if this is right and any thoughts.

Step One: Insert dvd into drive and rip to my HD with my rip program.

This makes all the .vobs, .info, etc files. I am using DVD Cloner.

Step Two: since I have all these files, I use Nero to burn a dvd. I get a dvd write error at the end (however the dvd is playing to a point. I have a 3ghz 1.5 gig ram computer and nothing running on burn).

I wanted to shrink it with dvd shrink(3.2) but am getting a data error with Vob 11 (invalid data in file VTS_11_0.VOB), the movie is ROUNDERS. I am getting this with Day after Tomorrow too.

    Questions:

    1. Is this process correct?
    2. Any ideas on the shrink error?
    3. Any thoughts to make this process better.

Lots of info at this great forum, tons to take in

    Thanks for any replies.

When you used DVDShrink - did you insert the DVD as source or did you open it in file mode and using your already ripped files from your hard disk?

What program did you ripp with? Could you try the orginal DVD and open DVDShrink from that one?

          Hi,

I used DVD-CLONE to rip my dvds. In my HD folder for the movie, I have the VOB, info and buc files.

Should I do something else? Right now I am trying this to see what happens:

          1. Put dvd into drive
          2. Open shrink -- it analyzed the movie.
          3. In re-author- removed all but main movie
          4. clicked on back up.
          5. It is 5% done encoding now--saving it to my HD

Is this better? Kind of sucks that I spent $60 on DVD Clone if I did not need to.

If you don't have Nero you can use DVDDecrypter for burning (freeware).

lol thanks. I will try to get my money back tomorrow.

I just used DVD shrink and it ripped The Day After Tomorrow to my HD just fine. I ripped just the movie. Looks nice.

Next up is trying to burn it with Nero. Praying for no errors....

Thanks for the help guys. Super forum.

My only problem now is backing up the movie Rounders. It won't. I tried DVD decrypter but at about 50% I am getting an error, I clicked ignore to see what happens though.

                              To cynthia

In light of the fact that "VegasRook" indicates that he/she is able to click on "Ignore" while ripping with DVD Decrypter, my supposition (and, hence, my suggestion to clean the disc) is that a Read error is most likely being generated...
