    I/O device error

I need some help with the steps involved in backing up a dvd. I have done it like 6-8 times a few weeks ago and now I cant seem to make it work I keep getting an error that reads " copy proyection error..the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." I am thinking I must be missing a step or doing something wrong

    1. If you have Nero installed - update it - it's free. www.nero.com
    2. If that don't work - disable "Burn with Nero" in DVDShrink preferences

What movie is it? Do you face the problem with all discs or just a few?

              Try the following:

Use DVD Decrypter to "rip" the DVD to your hard drive in "File" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "All files" (NOT "movie files").

Then use DVD Shrink to "Open files" (NOT "Open Disk") - and select "VIDEO_TS.IFO"

decrypter is done always on "all files"
but i have been using open disc...not open file...maybe that is my problem i will try

I tried this but still get the I/O device error. This is a rental dvd, is there a difference? I have tried dvd encrypter, shrink, 1 click, smart ripper...no luck. It's so frustrating. This is the 2nd time I have rented it. The 1st time it at least ripped to my HD and then I had the narrator prob, this time it won't even rip?? CONFUSED!!!
