My 4x burner was creating a backup in about 45-53 minutes from the time I start Shrink to end of burn process by Nero using shrink 3.17. However since I upgraded from shrink 3.17 to 3.2 it now takes from start to finnish about 1hr 30 or so minutes, I have contributed this to the new features in shrink 3.2, does this sound about right?

    system specs.

    P4 3.0 (800mhz fsb)
    512 mem pc3200 (400mhz fsb)
    SBA soundcard
    FX5200 128 meg video
160 Maxtor sata hd (about 120 gigs free)
Lg-GSA 4040b fw A106 Dma turned on, on both the dvd player and burner, burner set as primary.

Also when I burn at 4x, the disk won't play on anything but the burner. I have only notice this with the Ridata 8x +r's with a media code of G05 but plays on everything I have when burned at 2.4x. I beleive I read on this forum sometime back that some burner may have problems burning these disk at 4x, can't remember if it was a disk or burner problem. Thinking about the Benq 1620 or the Nec 3500 to replace this one, any suggestions?

I have used this before but it would seem that the speed is the same...

I have just used a RW (x2 according to my drives firmware) disk to test you point of view, but I hate to stress that the speeds are the same, the DVD's play fine and that I have tried so many times to find a firmware update to my drive that I just cant find it... The sony Dw u10a must be simply perfect because of the lack of any support...

No one ever released a official firmware version for this

30 minutes are for me the practical DVD burning time, and if I have to sacrifice speed for consistency then my choice has been made...

With a failure rate of 1/300 and counting I think this is a none issue...

By all means I will still be looking... For a way to update the firmware without turning it into the DRU500A...

Well I hope soon to add another DVD burner to my system but I want a drive that will support all the formats + the upcoming -R DL

I would like to try DVD RAM just because of it'superiority to RW and error correction

Maybe a wishlist for sucha super drive could be a possibility...

I add the last nero log with the registry patch...

Funny thugh the drive will burn at x2 and x4 but the burn time is +/- the same...

              I have a possessed drive...

I'd have to suck it and see.
Truth be told I'm not a big fan of chat rooms.

Although I'd probably be in there more often than not....
