not sure what i did to change my good luck

but now it'll rip for maybe 10-11 minutes or so i'll go downstairs and come back up and find my pc turned off.

i witnessed it while i was chatting... i would be rippnig, and chatting on aim and boom PC just goes down.

It happenes with NOTHING running at all except the shrink.

any driver, sp's or anything i need to get? what the hell it's very annoying.

are you absolutely sure it is shrink causing the problem?

have you done a virus/adware/spyware check on your system recently?

maybe someone turns it off every time you go downstairs

? I never said it's Shrink..... Im trying to FIND OUT the problem, that's the reason i posted here.......

Deff no ad/spy/virus.... i do thorough checks every 20-30 min.... i don't use IE, and i barely even search the web, i use AIM and that's it....... and if you actually READ my post you would see that i said I would be Chatting and the PC shuts right then and there while im on it.

Im looking for a serious response for this problem, thank you

If your O/S is WinXP, perform a "System Restore" back to the last time "things were working properly"...

If you have an Intel CPU - check if your fan is working.

Have you, as I suggested, performed a "System Restore"?

Fan can be working - but is it cooling? Checked your real CPU degree?

yeah i will have to look into it, but just from rippin a DVD it will put that much strain on the cpu?

that's weird but i will deff Tweak up my Volcano 7+ and put it on the JET ENGINE setting and just live with the sound

ripping a dvd, on my system, takes only 5% to 10% cpu power...

Sometime when people talk about ripping they mean encoding. I was not aware that you just ripped the DVD without any compression. That rules out the fan.

Why don't you only use DVDDecrypter if you just want to ripp the DVD? No need for DVDShrink if you don't want any compression.

an unusual problem... as long as cpu cooling and viruses/adware/spyware are ruled out, i cannot see anything other than the power supply/outlet causing the problem...

does this happen ONLY when using shrink?

Could try to alter the setting in windows control panel -> system

                          Don't restart on error

That would give you a blue screen with some error codes.

hmmm.... and if i do that ... what are you saying.... get the error code and then try to search for it or post it in here?

i might give this a try
