DVD Writer disabled ?

hi, i have a hp pavilion a250n, win xp with an hp dvd/cd writer 300n combo. just yesterday i tried to burn a cd and it said my drive doesnt support writing..i went to sysetem properts and it says the drive is disabled when i try to enable it it says "windows was not able to enable device.
it also says "This device is disabled. (Code 22)"

whats wrong?

Try using Windows to "Install new hardware".

If that doesn't work, I guess it's possible that the drive has died...
