Burning a DVD-9 TO DVD-5

Purchased Sonic RecordNow!Deluxe v7.21 under the impression I could burn a non-encrypted DVD-9 to a DVD-5.
Attempted to contact the Sonic people and no reply. Any help? Thank you.
