Encoding stating 10 hours remaining ?

I have copied a few movies now and I am trying to copy Spiderman 2 and it opened the disk fine in about 5 min but now it is really slow to backup and it is showing 10 hours to complete - however when I copied Day After Tomorrow it worked in about 30 min - what is wrong??

      with dvd shrink 3.2

The part that i do not understand is that all was working fine and at the most to encode (backup) it would take 45 min but the last couple of days it is stating it will take 10 - 12 hours, this does not seem right?

Are you running any background tasks? Is it only Spiderman misbehaving?
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

no I am not running anything else. It also was running long for Terminal and Elf.

I was advised to try to uninstall and then reinstall - did that and now it is down to encoding at 7 hours.
