    Can't burn DVD

I'm able to burn VCD or CD but PC will not burn my home videos to DVD. I used to do it but haven't in a while. I've read through several postings trying to see if anyone else has had similar troubles. I've enabled DMA but to no avail. Any thoughts?

    What program(s) are you using?

Sony VAIO came with MovieShaker and I've also used Intervideo WinDVD that came with my new DVD burner. Neither work. One thing that seems strange is when I open windows explorer and see the DVD-RW drive(F. When I insert a blank DVD, it changes to CD drive (F. I never noticed that before.

Try using "Nero" for burning to DVD - burn using "DVD-video" mode.

"When I insert a blank DVD, it changes to CD drive"

Do you indeed have a DVD burner, or is it a CD writer drive?

I haven't downloaded Nero. I recently purchased a 16X DVD burner because I thought my original burner was defective. It was a single speed. It gave me a good excuse to upgrade the hardware.

            "I haven't downloaded Nero."

I would suggest you give it a try...

I just tested my DVD+RW drive using that same method in Windows Explorer. Mine does the same thing but, it's suppose to.
When your DVD burner is empty, it shows DVD-RW. When there is a DVD in the drive it says the name of the DVD, and to the right it says "CD Drive". "CD Drive" is right, cause thats what a DVD is, a "Compact Disc". I have taken two screen shots to illustrate my point.

The first screen shot is of the DVD burner empty.

The second screen shot is of the DVD burner with the DVD movie "Elf" in it.
