Audio and Video not in sync

I used DVD Shrink to rip a DVD (worked fine) and I used Nero Smart Start to create a movie. When I preview the movie I created, it works perfectly and looks fantastic!! However, when I burn the DVD and play it in my DVD player, the audio is a mili-second ahead of the video. This condition is not present during the preview, so I am thinking that it must be some setting that I can't figure out or something. Any ideas?

what speed are you burning at ? are you multi-tasking while your burning?

It looks like my drive is burning at 48X (8467 KB/s). I do not multi-task during the burning process. I did that once and the process failed. Now I just start the burn and walk away. Some additional info. for you, I have successfully burned the DVD before but I had brought in all of the files from DVD Shrink and that included deleted scenes and previews. The current copy that I am having trouble with does not contain those files. Could that be the problem? Maybe I am missing a file?

There is no way that your DVD burner is burning a DVD at 48X. 16X is as high as you can go I believe. Also, what kind of media are you using?

Ok, I was looking at my burner speed. Nero says something like 2X (4000 KB/s) or something close to it. I am using a DVD-R and my burner burns DVD+ and - R, as well as, RW and CD.

What brand of media? (who makes it? Memorex, RITEK, a cheap no name brand?

Memorex and the video more than fits on the disc so it is not a space issue.

I would try a different brand of disc. Alot of people have been having problems with the Memorex brand.

It has nothing to do with brand of disc. If you burn AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders on your hard drive before burning to disc, and watch the DVD project from these hard drive folders, the audio will still be out of synch. Audio/video synch (or lack thereof) is just a common problem with DVD authoring. The only solution would be to burn the MPEG files onto a DVD as a data disc, and then play them on your home DVD player.

In fact, after I had audio and video synch problems, I tried a Sony DVD+RW disc instead of Memorex. The video was still out of sync with the audio on the Sony disc. The problem lies with the encoding software. As I said previously, one would be a LOT better off to just burn the raw mpegs to a DVD as a data disc, and watch the files on a DVD player that supports DVDMPEGISO. That way, you can avoid encoding altogether, and have the synch perfect.
