DVD Decrypter error!

I have been trying to rip the first Shrek and keep getting this error with dvd decrypter 3.5.2.0...

I/O Error!

this happens starting from "VTS_02_0.IFO" and up on the dvd.
I've tried it on my NEC dvd-rom and get the same problems. Can anyone help me out on this one? I've no problems with any other dvd. I've checked the dvd itself and there's no damage, scuff, or scratches at all. The condition is near perfect so it can't be a physical thing right? I've also tried the latest shrink and it'll give me an error just trying to load the dvd.

I also want to add that in dvd decryptor trying to rip the main movie files only, it gets stuck on VTS_01_04.VOB, I'm at 245 retries already. Anyone have an idea?

Sounds to me as if the disc is dirty or has very small scratches which are not real visible to the naked eye. Clean it real good (Try cleaning it with toothpaste), then try to rip it again.

what do you mean, clean it with toothpaste? just wipe the disc with actual toothpaste? that won't ruin or screw up the laser on the dvd drives?
