    DVD+R media fails

    Heya,

I'm got a toshiba odd-dvd sd-r6252 in a HP nx7010 and I'm finding nero fails to write to any DVD+R media, but it will write to DVD+RW.

Nero will eject the disc saying:

    Requested Media:
    DVD+R/DVD+RW

    Disc Media:
    DVD+R

    Any ideas?

Are you all up to date on your HP Firmware?
    Cheers!

Click the link below and read the numerous other reviews stating the same thing you are by other people with that same burner.

      Solution: Buy a different burner.

OK... nice to know it's not me.

I'll contact HP support and see what I can get out of them.

Well, believe it or not, HP support actually fixed the problem (I'm surprised as well). I originally installed the 1A14 drivers (available at http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/22185.html)
However, this didn't seem to fix the problem, so I called support expecting to go through the motions, prove it doesn't work and then demand a replacement. I diligently went through the whole thing and it worked! Here's what I did:

            1. Use the device manager to delete the CDROM and DVD devices.

            2. Reboot, the DVD and CD will get reintalled.

            3. Download and install the 1A14 drivers.

            4. Reboot.

            5. Try again.

Note that prior to any of thing I had reverted to the NX7010 BIOS version F.42 (SP28060) and uninstalled ROXIO CD creator - I use nero 6.

            Hope that helps anybody else.

            Regards,
            Marty
