Hey im just wondering if anyone else here has a sony dru 530a burner. and if so what media do they find works the best and plays on the most dvd players with no problems or errors. and again (lol) where can i find them. im using right now sony 2.0 1x-8x with some problems. i have used g04 ritek with some good some bad and memorex with the same results. still looking for that perfect media. thanks Frank

im using sony 2.0c firmware and im using the newest firmware for the sonic record now software. and im using right now sony dvd-r 1x-8x verison 2.0 like i said sometimes i get good burns and sometimes bad. and i havent found a dvd-r that will play in all dvd players that i have. one here one there.Comment

With my DRU-530 I've use:
TDK -R, -RW, +RW
Verbatim -R
Memorex +RW
Melody -R
The only ones that had problems were the cheap Melody discs, but they seem to be reliable only if I burn at 2x..any faster and 70% of the time they'll skip and carry on.
I mostly use the TDK +RW and -R which have been great until now (about 10 months). Lately I haven't been able to erase the RW's properly. Nero says that it's erased, but then the disc becomes unreadable and unuseable in any DVD drive. This also has happened with CD-RW media. After erasing the disc, it becomes useless - can't burn anything to it. The drive will sit there for an eternity trying to read it and Nero will hang while it's trying to read.
I'm puzzled as to why this has happened out of the blue. I might try cleaning the laser to see if it has any effect...Comment
