First off....ty for last answer and explanation. Hopefully this will be my last question for awhile. When using shrink......what is the lowest acceptable percentage eg: Backing up notebook today (don't ask.....wife bought it....not me) after I made extra's still pics and removed what I could.....I still had an 84.2% I know you said the closer to 100 the better, and 58 is bad, so where is the fine line between good and bad??

With video compression, the best way to achieve the best quality is to not compress it whatsoever. The more compression you use the more quality you lose, whether or not you will notice the quality difference is a different matter

Many factors determine whether you will be happy with the output quality of dvd shrink, many down to personal preference.

Factors that come into play are:

The source quality (Even originals can look bad and compressing an alrady poor original is going to give you worse results)

On what you intend to watch your backups on.? If you were going to watch the dvd you compressed at 58% (42% compression) on a 14" screen I'm sure you wouldn't be able to tell the difference from the original.
I watched Finding Nemo on a 42"plasma and the original (to me) did not look good but very blocky

How good is your eyesight...?

If you used more than 25-30% compression, seriously consider using an AEC quality enhancement in the Quality settings after clicking backup. Do some experiments yourself and burn the resuts to a rewriteable and take a read through

Yes I was up for 24 hours, actually alittle longer, as I didn't go to bed until like 4 hours after that post. So make it 28 hours. I tried to watch a movie and fall asleep on the couch but, I kept hearing my computer beep every time I got a message, I didn't turn off my speakers cause I use my computer for a alarm clock also. So I just ended up staying awake. lol

( I finally slept for about 6 hours this morning.)

Edit 1: If you got paid for this, I would be wealthy. lmao
