    DVD Players errrrrr!!!!!

    I backed up AVP last night and tucked it away for safe keeping.

    I play the movie on my RCA player. not a single problem.

    I bring it out to dads this afternoon . It won't get past the FBI warning, it freezes on his Venturer (yes I know its an unknown name), so I said well fine try it on my sisters. It plays fine on her Zenith. Tonight it got to my brother . he called , said it doesn't work on their Toshiba DVD player but it works fine on the PS2!

    Well what do ya do. Should I be concern enough and perhaps try different media ????? or say screw it and wait until they buy updated players???

    What do you think, and has this happened to you, am I not alone here?

    "say screw it and wait until they buy updated players"

    That's the ticket. Unlesss the ENTIRE WORLD goes generic, the greater the number of players you try to play your burned DVDs on, the more "no goes" you'll have.

    Of course, if your burner is capable of burning DVD+Rs AND allows for bitsetting (changing the setting to a fake "DVD-ROM") you'd stand a greater possibility of "universal" success ;>}

        he means by changing the "Booktype" setting from DVD+R to DVD-ROM. (Generally older/more stand alone DVD players are able to play "DVD-ROM" than "DVD+R".)

            What program are you using to burn the DVD? That will be where you set the book type.

                According to the link below, your burner DOES support bitsetting:

                    This thread is about the differences amongst DVD players and bitsetting. The solitary reference to DVD Shrink is wholly incidental. Therefore, it more appropriately belongs back where it was...

                      Hmmm what happens if you have the Nero 6 Deluxe like I do in which I have both Express and Burning Rom. Shrink doesn't exactly tell you which nero its using (i think)

                        I agree. why it was moved in beyond me. I know where threads should be, and this was really a DVD player rant. I did find a Bit Setter program which I'm trying found at http://www.dvdplusrw.org/Article.asp?mid=0&sid=2&aid=44

                        I didn't mean to bring up shrink
