Pauses in newer movies

I'm having some issues with a couple of the newer movies that I've backed up. In particular, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle and The Village. I am ripping them with decrypter, shrinking with DVD Shrink, and burning with DVD Decrypter. The problem is about every 2 minutes the video and audio will pause for about 3-4 seconds. It does this throughout the entire movie. When I play the originals, they work fine. I've also copied several other movies and have had no playback issues. So is there a problem with these 2 movies in particular??

Could be just those 2 movies are the only ones having problems.

• Those are you two most recent burns?
• Have you done anything different?
• Burned them at a faster speed?
• Burned them to different brand of media?
• Even same brand but, out of a different box/spindle?

Think back - When you were ripping/compressing/burning these two particular DVDs, were you running any other programs (including Internet activity) at the same time - especially anything that might have emulated keypresses/mouse clicks on a continuing basis?

I wasn't doing anything different than I normally do. I'm using the same type of media. I'm not doing anything else such as surf the Internet.

I have, however, just tried to burn and older dvd and had the same problem. I can play the original just fine but the copy has the same pauses as the other 2 I mentioned before. Could it just be that it's dirty and needs a cleaning disc run? If it's dirty, why wouldn't it affect the playback of the original disc or could it only be affecting the burns?

Sounds like bad media. You may have got a bad batch, or some inferior media.

Also, I downloaded and ran the dvdinfopro program suggested and it shows no error in CRC on the burned disc.

I have been using Memorex DVD+R and haven't had a problem up to this point. In fact, I previously burned 9 discs from the same spindle as these 3 problem discs and they work fine.

Any other thoughts and how about the cleaning disc questions? Could that be it?

Do you have a burn log? I suppose it says everything finished A-OK?

Did you verify the burns?

Can you burn the same project with an RW and see how that is?

yeah, it said everything finished ok. I loaded the ISO image that DVD Shrink created onto a virtual DVD drive and played the movie from there and it worked perfectly so I'm guessing at this point that it is, in fact, a burn problem. I will be getting a cleaning disc and seeing if that helps.
